WORKING AROUND OBSTRUCTIONSThe Ammann ARX 26-2 Light Tandem Roller makes it easier to see and work – near obstructions. The roller features a new articulation joint that enables quick drum adjustment from in-line to offset configurations, helpful when working close to obstructions. Operators need watch only one drum, knowing the second will be a safe distance from the obstacle. The in-line drum setting is available when it’s time for productivity in open spaces.
Details:
The Ammann ARX 26 Tandem Roller delivers 47 kN of compaction force yet still works flush to curbs and other obstructions. The roller covers some ground with its 1200 mm drum width. The machine is designed to provide the operator with exceptional drum views, one factor in helping the machine work close to potential obstructions.
Operator benefits include a rubber-mounted platform that limits vibration and an intuitive instrument panel. The ARX 26 also includes high quality, long-lasting components that reduce the cost of ownership over the lifetime of the machine. It is reliable, economical, safe and fuel efficient.

Unmanned Rollers and ROPS2

Remote control machines are not new to our industry. What’s new and unique about the system we have developed is that the machine can be used in both manned and remote control with the turn of a key. Why is dual use important? In some high risk applications, where the possibility of rollover is assessed as high, the use of a remote control machine may be the best or only option. Remote control operation can also be beneficial when working to an edge, i.e. working next to a concrete pavement, as the operator has clearer visibility of the roller’s drum edge. However, whilst the remote control system is a practical solution for some works, in most normal applications manned operation is acceptable and more efficient. Currently, Conplant has several functional prototypes on in-field trials including 2.5 tonne and 4.5 tonne Ammann tandem rollers and 7 tonne Ammann single drum rollers but the system is capable of being fitted right up to 28 tonne single drum rollers. ROPS2 is a Roll Over Preventative System with 2-stage warning and function management. Our ROPS2 system warns the operator when a potentially dangerous angle is detected and shuts down the roller’s vibration if the angle continues to increase.
